Band of Outsiders at The Corner
October 29, 2009 · Leave a Comment

“The inspiration for the collection came from Godard’s La Chinoise, a strange and funny film made in 1967 about a group of young, rich French students who spent a summer in one of their parents Parisian apartments studying Mao and flirting with anarchy and rebellion,” according to Band of Outsiders.
I love the patchwork suit. Jason Schwartzman. But I would rock this suit with vintage gray oxfords. Sans bow tie.
They continue to describe the Collection, “The Band collection took the theme of students, the mood of Paris in the late 60s, and the style and humor of Godard and Truffaut’s hero and alter ego Jean Pierre Leaud, the star of the film. Tailored sweatpants, tromp l’oeil prints of composition notebooks, walnut school desks, and of a boat shoe itself on boat shoes, and collegiate cashmere sweaters worn with corduroy suits conveyed the feeling of students, of something elementary and basic, and something youthful. The color palette for the men’s collection was inspired by Robert Bechtle’s photorealist paintings. It was important for me this season to create a sense of value and permanence in the men’s pieces, the ultimate classics, as during this economy consumers are so much more hesitant to make big purchases.”

Festa De Gracia: Barcelona
September 16, 2009 · 1 Comment
On August 15th and 16th the neighborhood of Gracia in Barcelona is transformed by the local artisans. Specific streets are blocked off and turned into huge installations made with various dietrus. Some of the coolest materials used to make sculptural installations were espresso pods like giant gold studs, old digital printed banners and signs that were cut into leaf shapes and strung together on twine to create vines and newspaper molded into blocks to create a castle wall. Each street has a different theme and many of the streets host concerts by various bands during the festival. I took the opportunity to photograph these amazing installations. Take a look at the gallery.
